As your Board of Education representative, I will keep Howard County and our education system at the forefront of scholastic achievement while ensuring diversity and excellence across our schools. A lifelong resident of Howard County, I take great pride in all the things that make this one of the best places in the country to raise a family. I am committed to ensuring all our children receive an outstanding education in Howard County.
As the child of immigrant parents, I was born and raised in Ellicott City and I am a proud graduate of the Howard County Public School System, having attended elementary, middle and high school in Howard County. I strayed as far as the University of Maryland to be the first person in my family to attend college and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. I then began working for the federal government and have continued a career dedicated to public service. Recognizing what a special place Howard County is, with our diverse and robust communities, I decided this was the best place to raise a family. By far, my proudest accomplishment is being the mother of two amazing boys, ages 14 and 11, who keep me busy playing football with them, doing laundry, and getting them to focus on their schoolwork. As a parent working in Howard County, my entire life really does revolve around this place! Like many of you, I want to ensure all children in Howard County receive an excellent education and have access to all the resources necessary to enable them to achieve their full potential. This is something we should expect of all our elected officials.
I have years of experience as a leader, responsible for balancing financial and broader organizational goals; I will bring this experience to the Board of Education where I will focus on directing resources where they are needed most while remaining fiscally responsible. I am passionate about responsibility, accountability and a commitment to excellence. I absolutely believe that strong communities are essential and we must emphasize unity across our communities in everything we do. This is a critical component that must be considered in the decisions we make in the Board of Education. I am committed to representing the people of District 4, and I will listen to what you think is important and do my very best to represent your needs and interests on the Board. We need data-driven and fact-based decision-making, free of influence from politics. This is what I will promise. I chose to run for the Board of Education because I believe all Board members have a responsibility to consider the best interests of our children and our communities in all decisions. I am confident we can do better by working together.
